If you are searching for purpose and meaning in your life, this is the right place to find it! First Baptist Church does not have purpose and meaning because of any particular ministry or event, but because the people involved in the church have chosen to allow Jesus Christ to be Lord of their life. Sure, the church is comprised of people, and people will most-certainly disappoint you, hurt your feelings, and make poor choices. However, with Jesus Christ as the focus of the church, these difficulties become opportunities for ministry. If that is you, send us an email or give us a call! We would love to meet with you and help you attend one of our gatherings to get to know you.
If you have made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life, have you been baptized? The Bible gives plenty of testimonies where new believers in Jesus are immediately baptized. This means they were immersed in water, a symbol of their "old life" being immersed underwater, and their "new life" being raised out of the water. This symbolism is important for the new believer but also for the Christian Faith. Those in attendance in such a celebration service will be witnesses to the public profession of their Faith through baptism.
If you have visited First Baptist Church and are seeking answers as to how church membership works, we have a very simple format. During our time of invitation at the end of each worship gathering, you will hear our pastor ask those who need prayer to come forward to the altar for prayer. This is also a time for those needing to accept Jesus as Lord to come forward, those needing to be baptized, and those wishing to join. When you step forward seeking membership, our pastor will ask you if you have accepted Christ as Savior, and if you have been baptized. If you haven't, he will lead you through a conversation, or the "next steps" in your Faith.
After joining First Baptist Church, you will notice that membership classes are offered annually. Each class, "FBC 101" is purposed to discuss what we believe, our affiliations with other like-minded organizations, and what is to be expected of you as a new member. Don't be surprised if you see deacons and leaders among those in the class to refresh their memory and celebrate with you that you have joined our fellowship.
